As a fellow writer/author/editor, I feel qualified to share my thoughts and critique about "When God Turned His Head." Because the author is a serious, dedicated writer, I hope she will want to know what I'm going to say, and take due consideration and self review, as critiques should be taken. The story was good and interesting, once I slogged through parts which were extremely difficult to read. I have put books down, never to return again because of reading difficulties in the beginning, such as the words the women were using just being over the top too modern for that period of time. As pious as churches demanded the congregants to be, during that time, I don't believe they would have been conversing on the church grounds, much less inside the building. The latter most certainly would not have been permitted. The formatting is all screwed up. I read it on a Kindle, and I've never seen anything messed up like that. In one paragraph, the word "she" was used fourteen times. The redundancy is boring, confusing and not acceptable for a good writer. Repetitive sentences need to restructured, and some melding of choppy ones need to be reworked throughout. If it was self edited, that is never a good idea. If someone else edited, they did not know what they were doing, at all. Other than mine, there is only one other review, which I suspect came from a friend. I cannot honestly give a good review; the most constructive thing I can say is that the basic story premise is good, but with more attention to editing, could be made a lot better. I have debated a long time about posting this critique/review, but based my decision on reasoning that it wasn't fair not to post it, if the author truly wanted honest reviews. My advice is to pull it, reformat and have it edited by someone who knows how, and do some major rewriting. As it now stands, I'm sorry, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone else.

well written, I am now reading book 2, and most likely will read 3 next.
I loved the Drusilla character. I could really see myself in her I guess that's why she was my favorite. I've never read any other story quite like this. I'm new to the historical fiction genre and I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading but after a few pages I really felt like I was in 1753. I don't know how Drusilla could put up with Mr Codman as long as she did, he was making me soooo upset. Anyway I really enjoyed this story, you did a great job.

loved this story. the book could use some editing, but it was very well written and intriguing story line. excited to read the next one
I really love this book. I am ten years old and like reading historical fiction. I like how the author used real people from history in the story. It tells about how Boston and America were in colonial times. Some parts were so exciting I didn't want to put the book down. I would recommend this book for people who like books that are love stories from history.
